On the edge The Spanish Ibex (Capra pyrenaica) is a true wild goat. There are some 35,000 of them in different mountain ranges throughout the country. province. The species came close to extinction in 1930 but has now
recovered and there are stable populations in many Spanish 'Sierras'.
